The results from last night’s primary election are in! In the sheriff’s race, Steve Lawson defeated Eric Watson. Steve Lawson received a total of 8,179 votes and Eric Watson received a total of 7,004 votes. Other contested races include County Commission District 1 Seat A, where Dennis Epperson defeated Rick Bise. In District 4, Seat A, Charlotte Peak defeated Alex Morrow. In District 5, Seat A, Bobby Goins defeated Jerry W. Cross. In District 6 Seat A, Tim Mason defeated Dan Rawls. In District 6, Seat B, Erica Davis defeated both Tommy Ledford and Robert Rominger. In District 7, Seat A, Kevin Raper defeated Joshua Rogers. In the race for Circuit Court Clerk, Gayla Miller defeated opponent Jeff Young.

Work on the Bradley County Emergency Communications District’s backup 911 center is continuing. The 911 Board heard an update on the project during a recent gathering.
911 Board Chairman Troy Spence said a communications expert is scheduled to visit in early May to work on the backup 911 center. Sherri Maxfield, who was named 911 director at the meeting after having served as interim director since Jan. 1, said she doesn’t anticipate the router that will send calls to the backup center will be in place by the time that person arrives.
Spence said the radios are in, as is the equipment to hook them up.
When all work is completed, it will allow the backup 911 center to have the same capabilities as the primary 911 center, he added.
In addition, Maxfield said training has been held at the 911 center for the new computer aided dispatch system. She said the go-live date is still set for August 30th.
