From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Tim Siniard reports: Sean Scott Hale, who two years ago received a 25-year sentence for second-degree murder in the death of Thomas Creek Jr., will appear in a Bradley County Criminal Court on a petition for post-conviction relief, claiming his federal constitutional privilege against self-incrimination was violated during his trial and that his conviction should be declared void.

The petition also requests the court to appoint counsel for Hale.

Hale, 29, pleaded guilty in connection to the March 2017 death of Creek, whose body was found in the Sylco area of Cherokee National Forest.

He was sentenced on September 2018.
