Topping our news today…

The Bradley County commission took up the question of rezoning property on Old Parksville Road to build townhomes and condominiums. Several residents of that area went to the commission meeting to protest the proposal.

The developer, Mike Crittenden, was represented by attorney Travis Henry who said he wants to build upscale town homes on 51 lots. Property owner John Miles, whose property adjoins the proposed development, brought with him signatures on a petition from nearby property owners against the development. John Miles explains…

One person commenting on our Mix 104.1FM one Facebook broadcast of the commission meeting stated that there is too much traffic on Old Parksville Road already and this would only worsen the problem.

The Bradley County commission passed the rezoning proposal 12-2.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Members of the Cleveland 100 board of directors will say goodbye to a longtime fellow board member next week, when they gather on the Cleveland State Community College campus for the 2018 Annual Meeting and Awards Night.

Stephen Crass, who retired as publisher of the Cleveland Daily Banner in 2017,  has resigned effective Sept. 20, as a member of the Cleveland 100 board of directors.

The resignation comes as Crass and his wife, Deborah, are making plans to move to Texas in the coming months. In his letter of resignation Crass said, “It has been a true honor and privilege to serve for the past 17 years.”

In a unanimous vote, the Cleveland 100 board approved adding Steve Hartline, owner of Hartline LLC, My Mix 104.1/WCLE Radio, to the group. Hartline will take over the position as of Sept. 20.

Announcement of the newest board member came today from Brenda Lawson, president, who said, “The board sincerely regrets losing Steve Crass. He has been a valuable part of our mission to serve first responders. Both he and his wife, Deborah, have been a tremendous asset to our organization. We’re just adding another Steve to our board. Steve Hartline is already keenly aware of our mission and is active in the community, working closely with our first responders. He is a perfect fit to join our team.”
