In an updated announcement Thursday afternoon, Lee President Dr. Paul Conn informed students that classes will not resume on campus until Monday, March 30.
The university’s offices, dorms, and dining services will be open throughout this two-week period for those who depend on them, but there will be no group meetings, classes, chapels, or other gatherings.
Instruction will take place online during this time, and students will be notified of updates.
Also, due to the CDC’s community event guidelines, Lee University’s Encore program will suspend all mini-courses for the remainder of the semester.
According to Bethany McCoy, director of community relations, once on-campus courses resume at Lee, each Encore professor will have the option to continue their scheduled course. The decision to continue a course will be made on a case-by-case basis, and students will only be notified if the professor chooses to resume the previously scheduled mini-course.

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to become a growing health concern across the region, Cleveland State Community College is taking preventative measures at this time to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff. Currently on Spring Break, Cleveland State students will be enjoying two more days of Spring Break as it will now continue through Tuesday, March 17.
However, beginning Wednesday, March 18, courses at all Cleveland State sites (Cleveland, Athens, and Vonore) will transition to online instruction. Instructors will be in communication with students during this transition period to make sure they have the information they need to continue their coursework this semester. Certain courses may have exceptions which will be addressed by individual instructors. This measure will continue through March 27, at the very least. Later this month, as more information becomes available, Cleveland State officials will reassess the situation and see if any further measures will be necessary.

Under the direction of Bradley County Sheriff Steve Lawson, the Bradley County Sheriff’s correctional and medical staffs have been ordered to implement enhanced policies and procedures for screening new intake inmates as well as those currently incarcerated. The implementation of these enhanced policies is to prevent the introduction of the COVID-19 virus in the Bradley County Jail.
These measures include, but are not limited to, a two-week suspension of all programs that are reliant on outside staffing entering the facility, as well as the suspension of all non-essential persons from entering the correctional facility. All scheduled on-site public inmate visits will be canceled and terminated for a minimum of two weeks. However, all video home visitations will continue to be allowed and scheduled.
