Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis has announced that the Bradley County Commission meeting will take place as scheduled today. Bradley County offices will be open as well.
Mix 104-1 also obtained an internal memo send to Cleveland City employees. The city’s senior leadership staff met Sunday morning. The Police and Fire Departments have been asked to create “contingency plans” to ensure public safety is maintained at all times, even if staffing levels are reduced significantly due to illness or quarantine. All employee work-related travel has been limited to only that which is absolutely necessary. City Boards and Committees will be reduced to ONLY essential and required votes. Also, effective today, the College Hill Community Center and South Cleveland Recreation Center will be closed until better information is available on the coronavirus status.
Mayor Brooks, along with the City Council, and all Department Heads are actively working on a community wide response with the many other stakeholders in our community.

This week, Cleveland City Schools and Bradley County Schools will be serving free breakfast and lunch to students whose meals are affected by school closures this week. This will be done via drive-thru locations. These locations will be open for breakfast from 7:45AM until 9AM, and for lunch from 10:30AM until 1PM. Drive-thru locations are: Ocoee Middle School, Parkview Elementary, Cleveland High School, Blythe-Bower Elementary, Candy’s Creek Cherokee Elementary, and the BCHS Food Trailer which will be located at Food City on McGrady Drive.
Meals are available for any child 18 or younger. The child must be present to pickup food.

Tennova Healthcare Cleveland today is implementing some changes in response to the COVID-19 virus. Beginning today, there will be two entry points into the main facility. You may enter through the main lobby from 5AM until 6PM, and through the Emergency Room 24 hours a day. Signage has been posted informing people with fever or respiratory symptoms that they may not visit patients. Visitors will be limited to one immediate family member, partner, or significant other ages 18 and older per patient at any given time. Those under the age of 18 will not be permitted to visit.
If you would like to drop off a card, gift, or message of encouragement, hospital staff will be happy to deliver those to patients.

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department has issued a directive for those who came in contact with Father Brad Whitaker of St. Paul Episcopal Church.
The Hamilton County Mayor’s Office and health department officials held another press conference on Friday afternoon, after state health officials announced a case of COVID-19 has been found in Hamilton County.
During Friday’s press conference, county officials say the Hamilton County patient made contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 that was out of state.
That patient has been identified as Rev. Brad Whitaker in a press release by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chattanooga.
If you have been around or in contact with Whitaker, health officials ask that you see your primary care physician but urge you to call before showing up to a doctor’s office.
As of news time, the Tennessee Department of Health website indicates that there are seventeen cases in Davidson County, fourteen cases in Williamson County, two cases in Shelby county, and one case each in Campbell, Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Rutherford, and Sullivan Counties.

Various closures in response to the COVID-19 virus are in effect in our area. Polk County Schools are closed beginning today through March 27th. Tennessee Christian Preparatory School is closed until March 30th. Their secondary grades will have classes online. Elementary grades will have take-home packets. In-person court proceedings in Bradley County have been suspended until March 30th. Bradley County Parks and Recreation is suspending all events until March 23rd.
