Our top story today, as we continue coverage of the fire at the Bradley County Courthouse…

Officials say the courthouse will be closed for at least three months while repairs are being made following the electrical fire on Saturday morning. A permanent location has been located but the deal has not been finalized. Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis will join us in the Mix 104-1 studio Wednesday morning with more information.

Sheriff Eric Watson has readily made available temporary housing for some of the courts affected by Saturday’s fire, in addition to offices for Judge Mike Sharp and Judge Lawrence Puckett.

Watson and his Judicial Services Division staff have met with Bradley County Clerk, Gayla Miller, to establish permanent locations for all displaced courts until repairs at the courthouse are completed. The locations of the courts are as follows:

The Bradley County Sheriff’s office, located at 2290 Blythe Avenue Southeast, will house Chancery Court in the community room. Circuit Court under Judge Lawrence Puckett will be held in the north training room.

The Bradley County Misdemeanor Probation Office at 2252 Blythe Avenue Southeast will house Circuit Court under Judge Mike Sharp in the conference room.

The Bradley County Juvenile Center located at 1620 Johnson Boulevard Southeast will house Bradley County Juvenile Court, Bradley County General Sessions Civil Court, and Bradley County Order of Protection Court.

The Cleveland Municipal Building, located at 190 Church Street Northeast, will house Child Support Court in the City Council Room.

All criminal courts, which incorporate Bradley County General Sessions Criminal Court and Bradley County Criminal Court, will still convene at the Bradley County Judicial Complex.

Freshman to sophomore retention has also reached a new high of 81 percent. This percentage represents how many of last year’s freshmen have returned for their second year.

In addition to this wonderful news about the fall enrollment, Lee also experienced a record number of 1,020 graduates during the 2016-2017 academic year.
