In news today…

Bowater Credit Union member Melba Baumuller, and Bowater CU account owner Cheryl Bressler have each won $1,000 from Bowater Credit Union to their favorite non-profits: American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 and Kairos Prison Ministry, respectively.

The A.L.A. Unit 81 serves our veterans and our community with a multitude of projects throughout the year.  These projects include sending six high school junior girls to Girls State, visiting four nursing homes twice a year and bringing gifts to approximately 60 veterans, hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon, providing supplies to the Chattanooga VA Clinic, and much more.  To make your own donation to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81, call Janet Allen a 423-650-0395.

The donation to Kairos Prison Ministry will be used for the upcoming Kairos Outside weekend.  These weekends are attended by women whose family has been impacted by incarceration.  “Spouses, parents and relatives of the incarcerated often ‘do time’ right along with their loved ones, feeling alone and guilty,” writes Bressler.  “Through the work of over 30,000 volunteers Kairos Prison Ministry bring the light, love and friendship of Jesus Christ into their lives.” To make your own donation to Kairos, or to find out how you can volunteer, visit http://www.mykairos.org/.

The Pay It Forward program has been renewed for 2018, and that means any member of Bowater Credit Union can nominate their favorite non-profit for a $1,000 Pay It Forward prize.  Five prizes will be given out in 2018, and the deadline to be considered for the first prize is February 28th.
