From Local 3 News: The TBI says the man accused of shooting and killing a Blount County Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop last week is in custody on Tuesday.
Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong says 42-year-old Kenneth Wayne DeHart was found in Knoxville on Tuesday.
The TBI says DeHart is accused of shooting and killing Deputy Greg McCowan, 43, during a traffic stop on February 8.
The TBI says DeHart is also accused of shooting Deputy Shelby Eggers, 22, who was treated at a hospital and released.
The TBI issued a Blue Alert for DeHart and placed him on the agency’s Most Wanted list following the incident.
A reward that grew to $100,000 during the five-day manhunt was also offered for information that led to DeHart’s arrest.
DeHart is facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
