A Bradley County man will spend 19 years behind bars for the murder of a 32-year-old woman. Just over two years ago, the body of Carissa Hamby was discovered in a field on Lower River Road.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive investigation into the death of Hamby and found the cause of Hamby’s death was blunt force trauma to the head. Further evidence linked Billy Blasingim as being responsible for Hamby’s death.

Blasingim was arrested by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office on a Grand Jury Indictment for First Degree Murder in April of 2022.

On September 5th, Blasingim pled guilty to Second Degree Murder in Criminal Court. He will serve a 19-year prison sentence with the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
