In news today…

Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn announced yesterday that 11 schools have received the Tennessee STEM School Designation, bringing the total number of STEM designated schools to 26. This designation, developed in collaboration with the STEM Leadership Council and the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network, is designed to recognize schools that promote and implement rigorous STEM-related learning opportunities for all students that lead to postsecondary achievement and high-quality careers.

Congratulations to Charleston Elementary School and Park View Elementary School, both in the Bradley County School District, who have received the Tennessee STEM School Designation.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Christy Armstrong reports: Cleveland High School will be celebrating the accomplishments of 370 students in the Class of 2019 during its commencement tonight.

They and their families will gather for a graduation ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m. in the school’s Raider Arena.

Unlike other local schools, CHS does not name a valedictorian or salutatorian. Instead, it honors Graduates of Distinction who maintained 4.0 grade point averages while taking honors courses. Fifteen have been recognized this year.
