From Local 3 News: UPDATE: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) officials say the body of 78-year-old Philip Acord of Hamilton County who disappeared on Chickamauga Lake Monday afternoon has been found.

 

TWRA spokesperson Mime Barnes says the man was one of two people who were fishing from a bass boat when he fell in the water.

 

Several agencies were called to the Ware Branch boat ramp on Thatch Road in Birchwood around 12:30pm to search for the man.

 

Barnes says the man was not wearing a life jacket when he fell in the lake, which was about 53-degrees in temperature at the time.

 

Barnes says this is the first boating fatality reported in 2024.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton County EMA, and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to help with the search.

PREVIOUS STORY: Several agencies are searching for a missing boater in Birchwood on Monday.

 

The search started around 12:30pm near a lake home in the 6500 block of Dogwood Drive.

 

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says have gathered at the Ware Branch Boat Ramp off of Thatch Road to conduct the search.

 

Hamilton County EMS officials say the missing boater is a male but no other details about the missing person have been released.
