The National Park Service tells Channel 3 that the body found on Friday in the Colorado River is McCallie student, Jackson Standefer.

The body was found near river mile 152 and flown by helicopter to the Coconino County Medical Examiner for identification.

Fourteen-year-old Standefer was hiking with family near the Borth Rim of the Grand Canyon when he and his step-grandfmother, 62-year-old LouAnn Merrell, were swept down Tapeats Creek in the Canyon.

Tennessee senators on Monday voted 27-3 on legislation banning abortions after 20 weeks if doctors determine the fetus is viable following required testing.

The ban wouldn’t apply in medical emergencies or if the mother faces risks of death or serious damage to a major bodily function.

The bill is still moving through the House committee process.

Sen. Joey Hensley, a physician and the bill’s sponsor, said changes he made to the bill resolve concerns previously raised by State Attorney General Herbert Slatery about the bill’s constitutionality.

The bill would require any physician who determines that the fetus is not viable at 20 weeks or later to obtain a second opinion from someone who is not in the same medical practice.

Physicians who violate the would-be law could be charged by prosecutors with a Class E felony with prison penalties of between three to 15 years, Harris warned. He said a doctor could also lose his or her medical license.

The 2017 Mel Bedwell Small Business Person of the Year clearly reflects the commitment to customer service and community that earned Bob McIntire recognition as winner of this year’s prestigious small business award, presented at a special award luncheon yesterday.

The Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce recognized McIntire, president of McIntire & Associates Insurance, because he “embodies the true spirit of a small businessperson with integrity who is invested in making his community a better place.”

McIntire is the 19th individual to receive the Bedwell Small Business Person of the Year award since its renaming to honor the contributions of the late Mel Bedwell and 24th to receive the award since this recognition program began. Bedwell was one of the most loyal and supportive members of the Small Business Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, which coordinates Business Development Month.

Forming the basis for the Bedwell Award are staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales or unit volume, innovativeness of product or services offered, response to adversity, and evidence of contribution by the nominee to aid community-oriented projects.

Bob McIntire started McIntire & Associates Insurance in 1981 with his father, Bill, and became owner of the business in 1992.

What began as a two-person operation more than 30 years ago has grown into a business with almost 20 employees, including an in-office claims manager, 10 insurance agents and a dedicated team of customer service representatives.

The agency reports a steady increase in volume of business during its history and has consistently seen double-digit growth throughout its more than 30 years in business. It currently represents over 25 major insurance carriers.

The Small Business Committee of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce sponsors Business Development Month as part of the Chamber’s commitment to the business development of its members, the economic growth of the region, and the highest quality of life in our community.
