On December 29th, 2022, Cleveland Police Department units were dispatched to the 2800 block of Michigan Ave Road NE in reference to a shooting incident.
While enroute to the scene, officers were advised that a 3-year-old male had “shot himself” and that they had left the apartment with the child, enroute to Tennova Hospital in Cleveland. The child was pronounced deceased by emergency room staff after an attempt to render life saving efforts.
The child was brought to Tennova by his father, Jasiah Bowman, who was present at Tennova Hospital. Officers responded to Tennova Hospital as well as the crime scene and secured until detectives and crime scene technicians were able to arrive on scene.
The details of the incident were presented to the Bradley County Grand Jury, who returned an indictment for Criminally Negligent Homicide and Aggravated Child Abuse or Neglect.
