2 Cleveland men arrested on statutory rape charges

Bruce Edward Lawson, 64, was arrested on New Year’s Eve and Grayson Jarred Gregory, 38, was arrested on Jan. 3. Both were arrested by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The alleged crimes occurred in the summer of 2022, as noted by the indictment true bills issued by Bradley County Grand Jury.

 

Lawson’s two counts of aggravated statutory rape allegedly occurred between July 1 and July 31, 2022, and Gregory’s one count of aggravated statutory rape allegedly occurred between Aug. 1 and Aug. 23, 2022.

 

According to the indictments, both men allegedly “sexually penetrated … a person at least 13 but less than 18 years of age.”

 

As a result of the alleged crimes being committed against a minor, the identity of the victim is not disclosed in the indictments.

 

In a phone call with 10th Judicial District General Attorney Shari Tayloe, the Cleveland Daily Banner was able to confirm the two cases were connected through the same victim.

 

Lawson was arraigned on Monday, Jan. 8, and Gregory will be arraigned on Feb. 5.
