From Local 3 News: On this Veterans Day weekend, the Wacker Chemical Corporation in Bradley County, launched a veteran employee resource group (ERG), called Wacker VetNet.

The VetNet is a community of veterans and supporters with the goal of empowering Wacker veterans to thrive personally and professionally through networking, mentorship, and advocacy.

“We’ve been able to look at how are we supplying support services to them within their benefits, how are we supplying them maybe with counseling services or other things that they may need, or maybe just navigating the VA,” said Teri Cassem, the Human Resources Director for the Wacker Chemical Corporation.

Yesterday, the group announced the new program during the company’s Veterans Day observances across the region, that featured Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) presentations of colors, local university and high school choirs, Wacker-employee band performances, luncheons, charity drives, and walls of honor featuring photos of veterans and family members.

We’re told military veterans make up 10% of Wacker’s workforce in the United States, with the Charleston location having the most veterans in the company’s US factories.
