Unemployment improves in counties across Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development released the July 2023 unemployment numbers for counties yesterday.

 

The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee decreased to 3.1% from June’s 3.2%. During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States decreased to 3.5% from June’s 3.6%. The unemployment rate decreased in 79 counties, increased in 10 counties, and remained the same in 6 counties. 

 

Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.7 percent. Bledsoe County had the highest unemployment rate at 6.2 percent.

 

Locally, all our surrounding counties saw drops in their unemployment rate. 

 

Bradley County’s rate fell 2 tenths of a percent to 3.9%

 

Polk County saw unemployment decrease 2 tenths of a percent, to 4.3% 

 

McMinn County saw a tenth of a percentage point drop, to 4.5%.

 

Meigs County dropped 2 tenths of a percent to 5%

 

Rhea County’s rate also fell 2 tenths of a percent to 5%
