Cleveland City Schools Director of Schools Dr. Russell Dyer has been selected as a Superintendent to Watch for 2020 as announced in an official announcement released by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). Each year, this NSPRA program recognizes up to 25 school district leaders for demonstrating dynamic, fast-paced leadership with strong communication at its core. NSPRA specifically lauded Dr. Dyer’s use of communication technology in innovative and effective ways to engage and inform the school community.
Under Dyer’s leadership, Cleveland City Schools has launched multiple initiatives that have required extensive communication with the Cleveland community.
Dr. Dyer’s belief in strong communication has never been more evident than during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, Cleveland City Schools has expanded its use of social media to include extensive use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and has upgraded the district websites as a way to enhance communication with all stakeholders. NSPRA noted this continual effort to promote two-way communication and community outreach across the district as a major reason why Dyer was selected as a Superintendent to Watch for 2020.

The Tennessee Bureau Of Investigations has issued an endangered child alert for a missing teen out of Scott County, Tn.
Investigators say 15-year-old Cody Wade Lowe was last seen Tuesday night at a home in Helenwood.
Cody has a known medical condition.

The Hamilton County Commission denied a recent bid by a local company to take on the Silverdale Detention Center’s upgrade project.
Sheriff Jim Hammond expressed his frustrations after the commission denied a resolution to help out with his jail transition plans.
The commission voted 6-3 against local company KTM Builders bid to take on the project; citing there were more questions than answers when it came to plans.
Commissioner Tim Boyd expressed his concerns the past two weeks about the company’s experience and qualifications for the job.
Though the resolution failed, Hammond says this is a bump in the road and his plans are still in play.
Hammond says he plans to call each commissioner that voted no, to see their side more clearly.
Hammond says the resolution can be re-introduced to the commission if the chairman and county attorney see fit.
