A joint investigation with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and Cleveland Police Department have resulted in a Grand Jury indictment of Adam Dylan Souders, age 22, of Cleveland, TN.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Lieutenant David Shoemaker and Cleveland Police Department Detective Cody Hinson, who are assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children taskforce (I.C.A.C.), served a search warrant on a residence while conducting an investigation into the distribution of child pornography. An inspection of the Bradley County Jail on Feb. 22 found deficiencies which are a direct result of overcrowding and will now be reinspected on April 5.

Sheriff Eric Watson said the main reason for the overcrowding is the state’s reluctance to move its inmates being held here in a timely fashion.

According to the report filed by William Kane with the Tennessee Corrections Institute, the jail is using the six holding cells in the booking area as permanent housing. There were 42 male inmates and 16 female inmates in the booking area at the time of the inspection. The report also said the inmate shower ratio was not in compliance with the average number of inmates in the booking area.

The inspector did note that “all of the inmate housing day rooms and cell areas were clean at the time of inspection.”

Watson said the inspectors will return on April 5 at his request.

Police have formally charged the Dalton High School teacher who they say fired a gun inside the school on Wednesday.

Dalton police spokesperson Bruce Frazier says 53-year-old Jesse Randal Davidson is charged with aggravated assault, carrying a weapon on school grounds, terroristic threats, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and disrupting a public school.

Frazier says Davidson apparently brought the gun to campus in a computer case Wednesday morning.

Frazier says the weapon was a snub-nosed .38 revolver.

Frazier says Davidson did not give investigators a motive at this time.

Dalton High School will be closed on Thursday. All other Dalton City Schools will be open.

The state and defense have rested their case in the Woodmore bus crash trial.

Wednesday, Johnthony Walker took the stand for the first time. He told jurors that another driver is to blame.

Prosecutors argue Walker was speeding around a curve and using his cell phone at the time of the accident.

Walker disputes both of those claims. He told jurors it was the driver of a white transit van who crossed into the bus’s path, leaving Walker with two choices.

Walker faces numerous charges, including six counts of vehicular homicide.
