Larry Bowers reports: Building permits issued by the city of Cleveland fell off significantly for December, with commercial and business permits few and far between.
A majority of the month’s permits were for residential projects, single-family homes, apartments, duplexes and triplexes.
For the month, there were 25 building permits issued, with a combined value of $4,817,245.01.
In commercial construction, there was one large permit issued. Bob Murray of Murray Dozing Service obtained a permit for a new liquor store at 5200 N. Lee Highway. The job value for this construction project is listed at $1.6 million.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is working to identify human remains that were found in the Tennessee Valley over the weekend.
The TBI says a human skull was found in a wooded area of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery community near the Sequatchie County/Van Buren County line.

A 35-year-old man in Polk County faces charges after authorities say an 18-month-old boy had a close call while asleep in his father’s arms.
An arrest report obtained by NewsChannel 9 says Matthew Rymer “did recklessly engage in conduct that put (his neighbor) Zachary Lillard and his 18-month-old son in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.”
The incident happened late Tuesday night just after 11:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Rivercrest Lane.
Police say Lillard was lying in bed with his 18-month-old son when all of a sudden a bullet came crashing through his bedroom window, right next to the bed. The bullet embedded in the sheetrock of the bedroom’s wall.
Neither Lillard nor his son were hurt.
Police went to Rymer’s home, and he confirmed to investigators that he had been shooting at hogs with his father’s 12-gauge shotgun.
Deputies arrested Rymer and charged him with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
The report says this is not the first time an incident like this has happened. It says deputies were called to Lillard’s residence in August, 2017 after a bullet from Rymer’s yard struck a grill that was on his back porch, and ended up in the wood siding of his house.
