A sinkhole has opened up along Highway 58.
Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesperson Jennifer Flynn confirmed to Channel 3 that a “small” sinkhole opened in the area of the 9700-9800 block of Highway 58.
The sinkhole was reported to Hamilton County 911 dispatchers around 4:30 pm Wednesday, a dispatch spokesperson said.
Flynn said it is possible the recent rain played a part in the formation of this sinkhole.
TDOT crews were on scene making repairs.

The nursing department at Cleveland State Community College will be holding its Mass Casualty Disaster Simulation today, between 8 a.m. and noon.
The drill will be held around the Johnson Building, on the second floor of the Career Education Building and on the grass areas in front of the Career Education and Johnson Buildings.
The students from Social Work, EMT and Paramedics classes will be joining the nursing students to conduct the simulation.
There will also be community partners — including emergency response vehicles — participating in the drill.

Larry Bowers reports: Commission members in Charleston continue to explore possible annexation of specific areas adjacent to the city limits, but have not taken direct action.
At Tuesday’s monthly meeting, Commissioner Frankie McCartney said it appears the Bradley County municipality can place an annexation referendum on the ballot at the next election, but would be responsible for the expense.
Referring to information obtained from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service at the University of Tennessee, McCartney said city officials appear to have some options.
They have been discussing the possible annexation of property along Lauderdale Memorial Highway, from the city limits at Highway 11 (North Lee) to Interstate 75 to the west.
Commissioners are now considering two residential areas for possible annexation — along Mustang Drive and the Maple Crest Subdivision.
An approval vote is required from more than half the residents (51 percent) for an area to be taken into the city.
No action was taken concerning annexation, but discussions are to continue.
