Johnthony Walker said nothing as he walked out of the courtroom after being convicted in the Woodmore bus crash.

The jury has found former Woodmore bus driver Johnthony Walker guilty of all six counts of criminally negligent homicide.

The jury also found Walker guilty of 11 counts of reckless aggravated assault, seven counts of assault, one count of reckless driving, one count of reckless endangerment, and one count of use of a portable device.

The jury returned some verdicts of lesser charges.

Instead of vehicular homicide, Walker was found guilty of six counts of criminally negligent homicide and some of the reckless aggravated assault charges were knocked down to assault.

Walker will be sentenced on April 24th.

In news today…

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying a male involved in an armed robbery.

On Tuesday, February 27, 2018 patrol deputies responded to the 6800 block of Bates Pike, and made contact with a female who stated a red pickup truck had ran her vehicle off the roadway. The female also advised the driver of the pickup approached her vehicle to ask if she was okay, held a knife to her throat, and physically took her money.

The driver of the pickup was described as a white male in his mid-40s, approximately 5’10” with medium length dark brown hair which was messy on top. He was also described as skinny with a full dark brown beard approximately 2 inches below his chin, with red sores on his face.

Anybody with information regarding this incident and/ or the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Bradley County Sheriff Office’s Crime Tip Line at 423-728-7336 or send an anonymous tip via text message through the agency’s tip411 mobile app.

Law enforcement, fire, rescue and emergency medical services personnel in Bradley County will soon have an extra layer of protection when they are working in sometimes dangerous circumstances.

According to Troy Spence, director of the Cleveland/Bradley County Emergency Management Agency, the Bradley County Emergency Communications District’s computer software has been updated and the “man down” button is now working.

Jerry Johnson, operations officer for the emergency management agency, offered a video demonstration of the system in use, including triggering a special siren inside the center that notifies dispatchers of the “man down” situation.

Spence said each radio is coded so dispatchers immediately know which officer pushed the “man down” button. Johnson said the programming of radios is planned to start in March, with an anticipated finish date in mid-April.
