From the Chattanoogan: UPDATE- The Rhea County Sheriff’s Office released more information into this incident on Friday.

 

Deputies arrived at a home on Possum Trot Road on May 12, 2022, for a possible stabbing. There, they found Thomas C. Simpson deceased. Rhea County detectives and the TBI then began investigating.

 

A Rhea County grand jury indicted Crossville-native Stanton Lee Reagan on October 2. Authorities then took him into custody on October 4 in Robertson County, Tennessee.

 

Robertson County authorities then extradited Reagan to Rhea County.

 

The sheriff’s office is holding him on a $1 million bond.

 


 

Earlier- DAYTON, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Rhea County man has been indicted on multiple charges after the death of another man last year.

Stanton Lee Reagan was indicted on four criminal charges related to the death of Thomas C. Simpson on March 12, 2022.

 

He is charged with first degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, murder in commission of a felony and possession of meth.

 

The indictment states that Reagan is charged with killing Simpson while stealing money, meth and other property from him.

 

It also states Reagan had at least a half a gram of meth on him.

 

He is currently being held in the Rhea County Jail awaiting trial.
