Autumn Hughes reports early voting is underway and Bradley County voters have been casting their ballots in steady numbers ahead of the Nov. 6 Tennessee State General Election.
Fran Green, Bradley County’s administrator of elections, said after the polls closed Saturday afternoon – the fourth day of this early voting period – a total of 6,967 voters had cast early ballots. On Saturday alone, 1,255 voted.
In comparison to the midterm election in 2014, 2,140 voters cast their ballot by the end of the fourth day of the early voting period.
The early voting period continues now through Nov. 1, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Three early voting locations are available for the public’s convenience:
- Bradley County Election Commission Office, 155 Broad St. N.W., in downtown Cleveland.
- Bradley Square Mall, 200 Paul Huff Parkway N.W., Suite 114, beside Stadium BBQ & Grill.
- In the Planet Fitness shopping center off APD-40. This voting location replaces the mobile unit that has been stationed in the Food City parking lot on McGrady Road for the past few years.
Registered voters may cast ballots at any of the three locations during the early voting period. Those voting on Election Day — Tuesday, Nov. 6 — will vote at their assigned precinct. On Election Day, all precincts will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tim Siniard reports vehicle headlights pierced the early morning darkness Friday as donors arrived at Life Care of America’s Campbell Center to deliver relief supplies for victims of Hurricane Michael.
The relief event was co-sponsored by WCLE’s Mix 104.1 FM and Life Care Centers of America.
Tennessee Christian Preparatory School President Jimmy Harper helped unload the donations, which consisted of much-needed bottled water, nonperishable food items and toiletries.
Other volunteers loaded the items on an Operation Compassion truck that would soon be bound for Florida.
Life Care President Beecher Hunter said he was amazed by the turnout. However, he wasn’t surprised by the generosity of Clevelanders.

Tim Siniard also reports Cleveland Mayor Kevin Brooks will be traveling to the nation’s capital Monday to attend a faith-based meeting at the White House.
Brooks said he will be flying to Washington today after the Cleveland City Council meeting has concluded.
He said a number of other religious organizations will be attending the event.
In addition to serving as mayor, Brooks is also employed by the Church of God International Offices in Cleveland, where he serves as coordinator of public relations.
Brooks said he had just received news of his security clearance Friday.
Brooks said he has been instructed to report to the White House at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for the event. He said Mayor Emeritus Tom Rowland will fill in for him for a previously-scheduled Tuesday engagement.
