Tim Siniard reports: Tennova, Cleveland’s hometown hospital, is expanding.
The hospital announced Friday it will open a walk-in primary care center on Paul Huff Parkway in Cleveland, followed by two additional facilities in other areas of the city over the next year-and-a-half.
The yet-to-be-named facility on Paul Huff will open its doors by late spring or early summer.
The operating hours have not yet been decided.
The philosophy behind opening the three walk-in clinics is to offer medical facilities for those needing urgent care, but want to avoid the long waits that occur in busy emergency rooms.

College students from nine neighboring states will pay a discounted tuition rate at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga this fall, thanks to the university’s new regional tuition program.
Instead of paying about $26,000 a year as out-of-state students — compared to about $10,000 for full-time undergraduates who live in Tennessee — students from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia and the Carolinas would instead pay in-state tuition “plus $8,000,” or about $18,000 a year, under the new program.
The goal is to attract diverse talent and keep it in Chattanooga after students graduate, as well as to reach the university’s enrollment goals laid out for the University of Tennessee system, UTC officials said.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond offers a statement in regards to the transfer of federal inmates from Silverdale Detention Facility on Friday, February 14th.
”Yesterday, at the direction of the U.S. Marshals Service, the HCSO Corrections Division transferred all federal prisoners from the Silverdale Detention Center. The HCSO contracts with the Marshals to house federal prisoners. The HCSO is responsible for the downtown Hamilton County Jail and the Silverdale Detention Facility. However, the Silverdale Facility is presently under a private contract with CoreCivic Corporation”
The department says 8 women prisoners were transferred to Bradley County Jail and the remaining men inmates were transferred to the downtown jail on Walnut Street.
The sheriff says the incarcerated women were transferred to the Bradley County Jail due to the fact Hamilton County Jail does not house women inmates.
HCSO says the department has been made aware of issues at Silverdale and an investigation is currently underway by its Criminal Investigations Division.
The department says this is an ongoing investigation and any additional questions regarding the transfer should be directed to the U.S. Marshals Service.
