The Cleveland City Council met yesterday.

During the meeting, City Manager, Joe Fivas introduced Zachary Colescott as the new Airport Director for the Cleveland Regional Jetport.

Mr. Colescott is an aviation professional with over 13 years of experience in the development and management of airports. He has held the role of Airport Manager for the Winchester Municipal Airport and Leadville – Lake County Airport and has also worked for Sky Dive Tennessee.

Mr. Colescott will manage all operations, maintenance, development, and promotion/ marketing activities for Cleveland Regional Jetport.

The City Council chose an architectural firm from Knoxville to help convert the historic Cherokee Hotel to the new City Hall.

McCarty Holsaple McCarty (MHM) was chosen from 16 applicants.

It is expected that construction will begin next spring.

Officials said certain areas of the building will be demolished now, including plaster ceilings with water damage, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and false ceilings.

The Council also reappointed two current members of the Board of Zoning Appeals. Charlotte Peak and Mathew Coleman will serve on the Committee for an additional
A 3-year term that will expire in November 2025.

Dennis Epperson, Jim Williams, Alan Colloms, Chad Dean, and Keith Davis were all reappointment to the Building Board of Adjustments and Appeals for an additional 3-year term to expire January 2026.

The next City Council meeting and the First Reading of the FY2024 Budget will be held on Monday, May 8th.
