From Local 3 News: Multiple fire and emergency crews worked to rescue a man Saturday afternoon who fell almost 100 feet from a cliff in Polk County.

At 4 p.m. on Saturday, West Polk County Volunteer Fire and Rescue was paged out to a fall victim at the bluffs on Gee creek.

Crews say a male victim fell almost 90 feet to a rock out crop and suffered injuries requiring him to be extricated from the bluffs.

Seven teams from 14 agencies responded to help extricate him.

Four technical rope lowering systems had to be setup to lower him down the steep incline.

Six Chief Officers and numerous captains including other officers worked to rescue this victim.

At one point, crews say there were 49 people involved in the rescue, with another 14 helping support the technical teams.

All the agencies that responded were through the TRI State Mutual Aid Agency which covers four states and has over 50 departments.

“I wish to thank each agency that responded for your professional actions and the time you give to this response.”
