Lisa Earby, Principal of Candy’s Creek Cherokee Elementary, has announced she will retire at the end of this school year after 31 years in education.

Earby has been the principal at Candy’s Creek Cherokee Elementary since 2019, following serving as the principal of Ross Elementary for eight years. Prior to being a Principal, Earby was an elementary classroom teacher for 12 years. During her career, she was named Teacher of the Year four times, System Level Teacher of the Year twice, and Regional Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2005.

Earby said in a statement, “Few people have the privilege of working in their dream job for 31 years, but I have! Retiring feels like closing a cherished chapter of my life filled with memories and gratitude, but it’s also the beginning of a new adventure. It has been an absolute honor to serve the students of Cleveland City Schools alongside so many amazing colleagues.”
