Chattanooga business owner Tim Kelly announced Thursday his plans to enter the race for Chattanooga Mayor. Kelly grew up in Chattanooga and is the owner of several local businesses, including Kelly Subaru and Southern Honda Powersports. He is also the co-founder and chairman of the Chattanooga Football Club.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced Thursday that he is relaxing some social distancing guidelines in the state, including allowing groups of up to 50 to take part in social and recreational activities. Governor Lee says the reason Tennessee will now allow larger groups is because the state has done well with social distancing, and he says for things to get better, that safe practice needs to continue even with larger groups.

The Tennessee Department of Health now reports an additional 175 cases of COVID-19 in Rhea County as of Thursday, a drastic increase from the 13 total cases that had been reported previously. A total of 188 cases have now been reported in the county. The Tennessee Health Department confirmed that the cluster is happening within a group of migrant workers on a farm in the county, although officials did not name the specific farm. State epidemiologist Dr. John Dunn says they are working with the farm’s leadership to isolate those infected.
