The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a man has been found in the Tennessee River. According to Detective Alex Clary, the body was found in the river just north of Cottonport Marina Wednesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. Detective Clary says they are not releasing the name of the man yet, as they’re still notifying family members. The sheriff’s office believes this to have been an accidental drowning, and no foul play is suspected.

Deputies arrested a Bradley County commissioner Wednesday night at her home. According to an arrest affidavit, Erica Davis and her husband got into a heated argument. The husband told officers that Davis pushed him against a stack of boxes in an office part of their home. He also said she scratched him while trying to get his phone away from him. Deputies noted that he had a bleeding scratch on the side of his face, and fresh welts and scratches on his back. Erica Davis was booked into the Bradley County Jail.

Cleveland City Schools is proud to announce that Director of Schools Dr. Russell Dyer has been named the Southeast Tennessee Superintendent of the Year by the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS). He was selected by his peers for this honor based on the criteria of leadership for learning, communication, professionalism, and community involvement. Dr. Dyer has completed his third year as the Director of Cleveland City Schools.

Garden Plaza at Cleveland, an independent living, assisted living and retirement villa community, is welcoming a new executive director, Ken Bolin.
Before stepping into this role, Bolin worked for Life Care Centers of America for more than 21 years, most recently as Eastern Division controller for the past six years.

In the nighttime hours of April 30th, three subjects reportedly vandalized St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Broad Street. Surveillance video revealed two subjects throwing rocks at the windows of the building, causing damage estimated at over $500 at the time of the report. The subjects then fled in a dark colored SUV.
