From News 12: A former teacher in Hamilton County appeared in court again on Thursday. Duane Sanders now faces even more charges regarding sexual abuse of children.
Officers originally arrested Sanders back in March of 2023.
According to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office online records, he faced nine new charges on Thursday, August 17.
The 45-year-old man now faces five new charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child and four new charges of aggravated sexual battery.
These new charges stem from five new victims coming forward.
That is in addition to the prior 10 sexual abuse charges from March.
Together, that makes 19 total child sex charges.
He previously appeared in court in April on the original charges of sexual abuse, battery and rape.
Sanders used to be a teacher at Wallace A. Smith Elementary School in Ooltewah.
