Early morning shooting creates chaos on Ooltewah highway: Family and children involved

From NewsChannel 9: Chattanooga police spent several hours investigating a shooting Saturday morning on the off ramp from SB I-75 from Apison Pike/ Volkswagen Drive.

 

The call went out just after 10 A.M. to TDOT’s Highway Incident Response Units to shut the ramp down for that exit.

 

When officers arrived, they say, the found a vehicle on the side of the road with man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm inside.

C-P-D says the shooting happened while the victim was traveling down I-75 in Ooltewah with four kids.

 

Thats when police say he got into a road rage altercation with another driver.

 

The victim then rolled down his window to inform the driver that he had kids in the vehicle, but the suspect began shooting in his direction.

 

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive.

 

Officers report there were four children in the car were not harmed in the incident.

 

Family of the victim came to pick up children shortly after.

 

Around noon, a crime scene unit started taking pictures of a white pick-up truck and the area around it.

 

The southbound on-ramp to I-75 is open at this time.
