Cleveland State Community Community College held its 8th Annual Community First Awards Tuesday night.

 

The program recognizes outstanding leaders in Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk Counties. 

 

This year’s award recipients are: 

 

In the art category: Melissa Fugate, an Educator from Polk County High School

 

In the Education category: 

Dr. Linda Cash, Director of Bradley County Schools, and Dr. Russell Dyer, Director of Cleveland City Schools. 

 

In the Health category: 

Dr. Don Robinson, A retired Physician, who practiced in Cleveland for over 40 years. 

 

In the category of Non-Profit Leadership:

Diana Jackson has held numerous leadership roles at Life Bridges, most notably, in her current position as Chief Executive Officer. 

 

In the philanthropy category:

George R. Johnson Family Foundation. 

 

In the Public Service category:

Stephen Lofty, who serves as the Polk County Fire Chief, Director of the Polk County Civil Defense, and the Director of the Polk County Emergency Management Agency. 

 

In the Student Leadership:

Carson Blevins, a senior at Polk County High School. 

 

The Don M. Lorton Volunteer Service Award went to:

Ricardo Torres, owner of El Jacal Reaturant in Sweetwater and an avid supporter, coach, and philanthropist of soccer programs in the Sweetwater area.
