Cleveland City and Bradley County Schools go on soft lockdown Monday

The Cleveland City Police Department released a statement with additional information about a soft lockdown for both Cleveland City and Bradley Co

The Cleveland City Police Department released a statement with additional information about a soft lockdown for both Cleveland City and Bradley County School systems yesterday morning.

The statement read in part, “A former Cleveland Police Department officer and current Chattanooga Airport Police officer made threats to harm several members of the Cleveland Police Department throughout the night on Sunday, March 3rd. The former employee was seen parked in front of the Cleveland Police Department building for a period of time and was also seen driving around the building early in the morning. Due to the fact that the individual was actively in the area and made threats toward law enforcement, we chose to recommend placing all Cleveland City Schools, Bradley County Schools, and the City of Cleveland municipal building on a soft lockdown. This lockdown was to ensure the safety of school personnel and our School Resource Officers. There were no specific threats made toward city or county schools. Law enforcement were the only recipients of the threats of violence.“

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
