The second resolution authorizes the mayor to enter into a commercial lease agreement with Bridge Property Management Group for property at 2825 Westside Drive. The lease is needed due to renovations that will take place at the Health Department over next year. The state has agreed to pay for a one-year lease. The resolution passed 13-0.

Commissioners also approved of the design of a Disc Golf Course that will be built on Minnis Road.

3rd District Commissioner and Chairman of the Finance Committee, Milan Blake, presented a recommendation from the Finance Committee on 4 projects that will use HCI funds: the City of Charleston ballfield bleachers, Greenway Fillauer Branch Trail, Museum & Cultural Center at 5ive Points (update to their audio), and a HVAC request from the TriState Exhibition Center. The 4 recommendations were passed unanimously.

The Commission also voted to approve the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget Calendar. The approved calendar asks the mayor to present and submit to the county commission a budget proposal by May 31st.

7th District Commissioner and Chairman of the Legal and Legislative Committee, Bill Winters, made a motion that the commission confirm the committee’s recommendation to send a letter and the information received from citizens regarding the Bradley Count Election Office to the Election Commission and the State Election Commission Office. The motion passed 13-0.

5th District Commissioner, Cindy Slater, made a motion that the commission approve a Legal Services Contract with Attorney James F. Logan Jr. and the law firm of Logan Thompson P.C. with respect to the prosecution of any legal claim against manufacturers of insulin and other diabetic medication, pharmacy benefit managers, and any other entities involved in improper price fixing, kickbacks, and that engaged in other antitrust violations. 2nd District Commissioner Louie Alford made a substitute motion to delay the vote so that Commissioners and the County Attorney could further study the contract. The substitute motion passed 12-1.

The next Commission work session will be held on February 12th at 12 p.m. at the Bradley County Courthouse.
