The County Commission met last night.

While the commission had no voting items on the Agenda, Commissioners did hear a

Septic Repair Update from Mayor Gary Davis. In total, the program has 107 signed contracts and 86 completed projects.

The Mayor also presented a copy of a letter from the City of Cleveland. According to the letter, the City has determined that the Inman Street Fire-Rescue building is an area that is key to the redevelopment in downtown. The letter proposes the construction of an 8,000-square-foot metal-sided building with an office and a restroom. According to the letter, the building would have six bay doors. Bradley County would be responsible for finishing the inside of the building. The location of building would be located on Dooley Street, between the Bradley County EMS Station and the Health Department. The letter also states an alternative site on the old Whorpol property could also be discussed. The newly constructed building would be traded to the County in exchange for the Inman Street Fire-Rescue property.

Mayor Davis says he has scheduled a meeting with City Manager Joe Fivas to discuss the proposal. He also suggested that the Commission turn the matter over to the building and land committee to explore. 4th District Commissioner, Howard Thompson, who chairs the committee, announced a meeting would take place, this Friday, October 6th to address the issue.

3rd District Commissioner Milan Blake also announced that the HCI Committee met last week and approved the 2023 Grant Cycle. Eligible organizations can start their applications now.  The County will award $125, 000 to award this year. To apply, organizations must attend a workshop on October 12th at noon and they must submit a letter of intent by November 9th at 4:30 pm to Lorri Moultrie.

The Commission will next on October 9th at noon for a work session.
