In news today…

The Bradley County Commission met Monday and took care of several items of business. A resolution allowing the mayor to enter into an agreement with Cleveland Roofing to replace the roof on the Paul Huff Parkway EMS station passed 14-0. During the meeting, Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis said he will not be mandating the wearing of masks in Bradley County at this time, however he strongly suggests that members of the public wear them. He also noted that beginning today, people entering a county office will be asked to wear a mask while doing so. In addition, he congratulated Zora Hammond and Cameron Ellison from Black Fox Elementary School for receiving the Herbert Lackey Reading Award – both tied for the award having read well over 1,000 books.

In a Monday news conference, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger announced a county-wide mask mandate that goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on July 10.

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Hamilton County and across the country.

The mandate issued by the Hamilton County Health Department states that masks are required for anyone 12 years old and older.

The mandate does list some exceptions such as being deaf or hard of hearing, medical conditions, or places of worship unless masks are already required by the house of worship.
