From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Tim Siniard reports: Cleveland Board of Public Utilities member Chari Buckner resigned from the board Friday to assume a customer relations role she formerly held at the Tennessee Valley Authority.

She will be succeeded by Debbie Ledford Melton.

The announcement was made during the Cleveland Utilities board meeting held at the Tom Wheeler Training Center.

In a resignation letter that was read by CU President and CEO Tim Henderson, Buckner, who was out of town, wrote that it had been a pleasure to serve on the board.

Buckner said she will continue to work with CU in her role at TVA.

Henderson said Buckner will be returning to a customer relations role she had held for many years at TVA.

Some residents in the Tennessee Valley may have felt an earthquake on Sunday.

It happened inside the Cherokee National Forest around 9:15 a.m.

The U.S. Geological Survey says it was a small quake with a 2.3 magnitude.

It was just over 10 miles deep and about six miles south of Etowah in McMinn County.

Another earthquake was recorded about a mile southwest of the Sweetwater area, just after 5:30 Sunday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey says this quake had a 2.4 magnitude.

A family is suing the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office after a 2018 SWAT team raid of their home, which turned out to be the wrong address.

Both the BCSO and the Drug Enforcement Agency later apologized to the Renck family.

The family says the incident still affects them today.

The lawsuit says family began experiencing “extreme fear, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, nervousness, and related mental and emotional harm.”

It also says their 7-year-old child “began experiencing nightmares, was scared to fall asleep, and showed ongoing signs of anxiety and fear.”

The raid was the end of a 10-month long investigation into the murder of a young pregnant woman – with agents believing the suspects were at a house on the same road as the Rencks.

A spokesman for the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office says they can not comment on open litigation.
