From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Authorities were notified early Sunday afternoon of a body discovered along the waterline of Candies Creek near Villa Drive.

Sgt. Evie West, public information officer for the Cleveland Police Department, said that the Bradley-Cleveland 911 received a call around 1:30 p.m. from a citizen who found the body alongside the creek near Westside Baptist Church. West said the body was discovered near 2500 Campbell Bridge Road.

The body was of a female, but West said that any other information was still being investigated today. Along with the Cleveland Police Department’s Crime Scene Tech, others to respond to the scene were the Bradley County Emergency Medical Service, the Cleveland Fire Department and the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force.

The body was transported to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office, where the police department had requested an autopsy be conducted.

The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed by CPD. West stated the name “cannot be released.” It is not known if the victim died from foul play, an accident or some other reason.

More information will be released to the public after today’s autopsy, and once additional information becomes available.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with any information to contact them and pass along that knowledge.
