The Chattanoogan reports- Lake Forest Middle School is in the process of presenting plans to rebuild the main part of their school in the near future, and it is running over budget. This process has been in the works for a while, but now it is a priority, Bradley County School Board members indicated at a work session on Tuesday. Richard Foster presented the layout to the committee for Lake Forest Middle School. The committee was concerned with the cost. Although the new layout could have a capacity of 1,300 students, the cost could be between $16 million and $18 million, when the committee had planned on 12 million. The Lake Forest Middle School renovation will be discussed moreat the meeting tonight, but Vice Chairman Vicki Beaty assured the board that it will get built. The meetingtonight will be at 5:30. It will be a regular voting session and will include a closed to the public safety meeting after the scheduled agenda. Press Release- Cleveland and Bradley County honored its veterans with events at many local schools and the traditional downtown gathering of citizens, veterans plus local, county and state officials. Tennessee Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder was the keynote speaker. Commissioner Grinder said a veterans home to be built in Cleveland will be similar to one being completed in Montgomery County. She said the future Cleveland and Bradley County home will equal the same high standards as the three already operating. State Representative Kevin Brooks Announced a memorandum of understanding has been signed by Bradley County and Cleveland mayors, the American Legion and the donors of the site. That memorandum is a significant step towards state acceptance, Grinder said. Terry Hollenback was the recipient of this year’s Raymond H. Miller Veteran of the Year award. Hollenback is a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran who served from 1967-1969. He is the top recruiter for Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25. Mayor Tom Rowland was master of ceremonies. Music was provided by the Cleveland High School Band.The U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, Chattanooga Division posted the colors. Former County ExecutiveEddie Cartwright presented his family’s tradional ringing of a plow share to announce the end of World War I. Channel 3- America voted to save Jordan Smith on NBC’s The Voice Wednesday night. The results came following Smith’s performance of Beyonce’s “Halo” on Monday, which shot to the top of the iTunes singles chart. Smith is a student at Lee University in Cleveland.
