Cleveland Utilities and Volunteer Electric announce a rolling power outage in coordination with the Tennessee Valley Authority to help lighten the load on the electrical grid in our area.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 12/24/22 6:00 A.M.: TVA Initiates Step 50 Again – Rotating 15-Minute Interruptions in Electric Service

Once again, TVA has initiated Step 50 of its Emergency Load Curtailment Plan. Emergency conditions on the TVA power system have again resulted in the need for rotating interruptions of electric power service in 15-minute intervals. Beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m., CU customers will experience 15-minute power outage at various locations at different times. We also sent out a text notification via our Nixle notification system.

TVA and CU are urging everyone to limit all uses of electricity during the periods in which they do have the power to help maintain the limited supply of electricity. Only the most essential lighting and electrical equipment should be used.

Please stay tuned to our social media channels (Facebook & Instagram) for updates.  We apologize for this disruption, especially during the holidays. These are difficult but necessary steps to prevent the potential of longer disruptions to the broader area. Again, we appreciate your understanding and help during this extreme weather condition.
