The Cleveland Police Department is asking for help with locating a senior couple that went missing Saturday.
Authorities say 87-year-old Betty Hicks and her husband 82-year-old Ken Hicks left their Cleveland home Saturday morning around 10:00 to drive to Gatlinburg. On their way, they became disoriented and confused, leading them to get lost.
Family members told Cleveland police that Mr. Hicks has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Officials say the couple is driving a 2012 white Chevrolet Malibu.
Anyone who comes into contact with the couple or sees their car is asked to call 911.

Wallace Allen Wright, one of Bradley County’s Most Wanted fugitives was located and taken into custody on Wednesday, September 9th thanks to a joint effort involving both fugitive detectives from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and deputies from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.
Wright was wanted for Possession of Schedule III for Resale, schedule VI drug violations, theft of property, unlawful carrying of a firearm, as well as driving while in possession of methamphetamine and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Dr. Russell Dyer, Director of Cleveland City Schools, is announcing a new assistant principal at Ross Elementary and Yates Primary effective October 12th. Mr. Kerry O’Connor will be fulfilling the role of Assistant Principal at Ross Elementary and Yates Primary. Mr. O’Connor will be joining Dr. Stephanie Stone‘s administrative team alongside Mr. Zach Riggins as she assumes the principalship of both Ross Elementary and Yates Primary in October.
Mr. O’Connor previously served for 7 years at Cleveland Middle School as a special education teacher and Special Services Coordinator

Following an unannounced inspection by the Tennessee Corrections Institute and an inspection by the United States Marshall Service, the Bradley County Jail has received positive results with zero deficiencies found from both inspecting agencies, including an official certification from the TCI Board of Control.
On the state government level, the Tennessee Corrections Institute’s jail inspection was based on the following categories: sanitation, hygiene, medical services, food services, inmate programs and activities, mail and visitation, supervision of inmates, security, maintenance, admission, records and release, physical plant, administration and management, personnel, discipline and classification. The state’s inspection was conducted on September 1st, with no deficiencies found. The inspection results were presented to the TCI Board of Control on September 9th, resulting in the Bradley County Jail receiving its official certification.

Bradley County Schools got a portion of almost $1.4 million in federal funding for school safety measures in and around schools and school grounds. Bradley’s school system was among three East Tennessee recipients, which also included the city of Knoxville and Monroe County schools.
Bradley schools got $442,000 for improvements.
The three awards announced Thursday can be used for coordination with law enforcement; training for local law enforcement officers to prevent student violence; metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other deterrent measures; technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency; and other measures that provide a significant improvement in security, according to federal officials.
Bradley County Schools community and communications coordinator Brittany Cannon said Friday that the money will improve school, staff and student safety and communications.

Last week’s COVID-19 case numbers for Cleveland City and Bradley County Schools are in. In the Cleveland City system, there two quarantined cases at E.L. Ross Elementary school, but no new cases at that school. Cleveland Middle School had two new cases. Cleveland High School has one quarantine case and no new cases. In the Bradley County system, Black Fox Elementary had one new case. Lake Forest Middle had three new cases, along with 12 cases already in quarantine. Michigan Avenue Elementary has one in quarantine, but no new cases. Oak Grove Elementary has two new causes, with eight already in quarantine. Taylor Elementary currently has one in quarantine, but had no new cases. Any schools not mentioned had zero new cases and zero in quarantine.
