On Thursday, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn’s decision to dismiss the charges against Sheriff Eric Watson.
Sheriff Watson released the following statement:
“I am so thankful for the words of support and encouragement for the last 18 months, when I had to face the allegations and accusations that was made against me. I have maintained my faith in the judicial system to prove my innocence. It is the utmost importance to me that Bradley County residents know that employees at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office have consistently provided this community great law enforcement services throughout this ordeal.”

Tom Rowland, Cleveland’s longest-serving mayor, said today before he gave his State of the City address that his hometown has mostly become the city he envisioned in 1991.
Rowland said he was taking up a career of doing housework unless he could find a doctor who would order him to avoid vacuum cleaners and dust rags.
Looking back at his vision for the city in 1991, Rowland said he’d accomplished most of his plans, with the exception of a passenger rail he and others hope would be routed through East Tennessee, but the idea stalled when the decision was made not to add any new rail lines.
Rowland said he’d accomplished a lot of goals he set including Tree City USA, Governor’s Three Star Community, refurbishing the old depot and museum center at Five Points and, of course a new jetport.
He credited a team effort for the successes.

Polk County deputies are investigating what led to the county’s first deadly shooting of the year. It happened just before midnight on Wednesday at a home on Highway 411 in Delano.
The Sheriff said two people were shot inside the home. One later died from his injuries.
Investigators are still piecing together what led to the shooting, but a 9-1-1 call for help is giving us some answers.
Panicked and in need of help, the sheriff said the man who called 9-1-1 to report the shooting had also been shot. He described his friend’s injuries.
The two men in their 20s were flown to Erlanger, where one later died.
The sheriff is calling it an isolated incident. So far, he has not released the name of the suspects or victims in the case.
