Cleveland Utilities electric customers will see a 3.74 percent rate increase over the month of February.
The new rate will be 9.693 per kilowatt hour as opposed to 9.355 per kwH hour in February
Vice President and CFO Marshall Stinnett reported the increase at Friday’s meeting of the Cleveland Utility Board.
Stinnett said the rate change is due to TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment, reminding everyone the month of January was “extremely cold and TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment is on a two-month delay.”

The 11th annual Tennessee Christian Preparatory School Presidential Celebration was as much a focus on the vision of what is to come as it was a reflection on what has been.
The school has a new president, Dr. Jimmy Harper, and is starting a full-push capital campaign to purchase the 93-acre property on which the school now sits.
Board Vice President Dan Chord, who has also served as interim president, spoke of the capital campaign now in progress.
Also presented were the two annual awards given by the school every year.
“The Fourth Person Award” is given to a person or persons “who have consistently given of his or her time and talents for the growth and betterment of TCPS.” The award was shared this year by Kelli Chord and Lisa Murray.
“The Spirit of Service Award” was presented to Mix 104.1’s Steve Hartline.

Bradley County Schools will present Kindergarten Rocks on Tuesday, March 6, at elementary schools.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., registration for upcoming kindergarteners will be held. To enroll in kindergarten, parents will need a child’s birth certificate, Social Security number and proof of immunization.
At 6:30 p.m. on March 6, a new student open house will let parents and students register, meet the teachers and view the classrooms during a school tour.
Kindergarten Rocks will be held at Black Fox Elementary, Charleston Elementary, Hopewell Elementary, Michigan Avenue Elementary, North Le Elementary, oak Grove Elementary, park View Elementary, Prospect Elementary, Taylor Elementary and Valley View Elementary.

On Friday, the Bradley County 911 Director Search Committee got its first look at the seven applications and resume packets submitted for the job. Each committee member received a packet with each applicant’s information for review.
Committee Chairman Ron Harrison said the committee had set aside nine days to review applications, but probably wouldn’t need that much time with only seven candidates to consider.
Search committee members will begin discussion of the seven 911 director applicants next week and set interviews for each of them. After those interviews, the search committee will narrow the list to the top tier of candidates to present to the 911 Board for further interviews.
Also, committee members will review the final version of the candidate interview questions at their next meeting, set for 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Cleveland Fire Department Station 1.

Children gathered at Cleveland State Community College on Saturday morning for a Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration. There were Dr. Seuss books, games, face painting, and a hat making table. Children were also able to write letters to Dr. Seuss as well as participate in storytime.
