March county unemployment rates remain below 5% in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development released county-level unemployment numbers for March yesterday.

 

Across the state, the unemployment rate decreased in 12 counties, increased in 73, and remained the same in 10. Williamson County had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.2 percent. Clay County had the highest unemployment rate at 4.6 percent.

 

Locally, all counties saw an increase in their unemployment rates in March. 

 

Bradley County’s rate rose 5 tenths of a percentage point to 3.4%

 

Polk County saw an increase of 4tenths of a percentage point to 3.4%

 

McMinn County’s rate was 3.6%, up 2-tenths of a percentage point. 

 

Meigs County’s rate is the highest in our area at 4.3%, up from 4.1% in February. 

 

Rhea County saw the smallest increase in our area, up only 1 tenth of a percentage point from February to 3.6%.
