From NewsChannel 9: A crash killed an 81-year-old man in Polk County, and it took several hours before anyone discovered it.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the crash happened some time on Monday at the 200 block of Lost Creek Road.
The THP report says the driver, Billie D. Ledford, was negotiating a curve when he lost control after his right tires were too close to the edge of the dirt roadway.
The report says the roadway edge gave way, causing the truck to tumble down an embankment.
A driver discovered the crashed truck a little after 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Ledford’s grandson Colby Ledford tells us in an email, ‘had it not been for the TVA employees going over to Smith Creek Power House to work, he may not have been found.’
The THP report says Ledford was not wearing his seatbelt.
