From NewsChannel 9: Tennessee’s Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally has sent a letter to Governor Bill Lee, expressing his mourning over the Covenant School attack and his thoughts on the need for increased school safety.

 

McNally says the changes will come with a cost, but he feels the investment is worth for the modernization of security at Tennessee schools. He says the updates to fire codes have decreased the frequency of school fires and believes something similar can be achieved for school safety.

 

Changes stressed in the letter are:

* Securing windows and glass in school buildings

* Magnetic locks on doors

* Centralized and modernized camera systems and 

* Armed guards
