Voters living within the Chattanooga city limits headed to the polls yesterday to determine Chattanooga’s next Mayor, as well who will hold various City Council positions. In order to win the race for Mayor, a candidate must secure at least 50% of the vote.

However, after tabulation of early votes and votes cast during the election yesterday, no mayoral candidates secured 50% of the vote. The top two candidates were Tim Kelly, at 8,562 votes, securing 30% of the vote, as well as Kim White, with 8,289 votes, securing 29% of the vote.

Now, Kelly and White have several more weeks of campaigning to do as they prepare for an April 13th runoff election. Early voting for the runoff election will run from March 24th through April 8th. Absentee ballot requests will be available starting March 12th. The deadline to register to vote in the April runoff is March 15th.

The Hamilton County District Attorney’s office is asking for the public’s help in the case of a missing 17-year-old girl from Chattanooga, who was last seen in two western U.S. states.

Authorities believe Daphne Westbrook’s father, John Oliver Westbrook, has kidnapped his daughter. A release says John Oliver Westbrook has been indicted and charged with aggravated kidnapping.

The release says Daphne Westbrook disappeared in October 2019, along with her dogs, Fern and Strawberry, after spending a weekend visit with her father.

Last month in New Mexico, Daphne’s Bible was found in a trash can outside Trader Joe’s on West Cordova Road.

Other investigative leads show her dad is frequently shopping in Santa Fe stores.

The Hamilton County D.A.’s office says John Oliver Westbrook is an IT expert specializing in security, block chain technology, and bitcoin. He is communicating in a way that’s almost impossible to trace, which makes it extremely difficult for investigators to generate significant leads in this case.
