Lee University’s CRC to host Chief Judge Sutton for public keynote

From the Chattanoogan: The Center for Responsible Citizenship will host Chief Judge Jeffery Sutton to speak at Lee University on “Local Solutions to the Court’s Deepest Questions” on Friday, March 17. 

 

Judge Sutton serves as the chief circuit judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is the author of several recent books on federalism, including “Who Decides?: States as Laboratories of Constitutional Experimentation” and “51 Imperfect Solutions: States And The Making of American Constitutional Law.” 

 

Judge Sutton’s lecture will consider the role of states and local government in the federal structure, highlighting the importance of decentralizing many of the legal and moral questions faced in American courts today. 

 

The lecture is open to the public and members of the Cleveland community are encouraged to attend. His lecture will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Humanities Building Lecture Hall (Room 104) on Lee’s campus.
