Details:

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the inaugural Lee Athletics Give Day, which will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The Developing Champions in the 423 campaign is a 24-hour online fundraising event and will serve as an opportunity for donors, alumni, parents, staff, and friends to help the department continue to develop and graduate champions in the classroom, in their sport, in their faith and in the community.

Donors can give directly to the program of their choice or simply give to the department as a whole. All funds raised will go directly towards enhancing the student-athlete experience at Lee through scholarships, facility upgrades, special projects and more.

“There is an incredible amount of excitement around Lee University athletics, the past, the present, and the future.  This Give Day will be a great way for us to connect with many of the people who support our teams,” said Lee Athletic Director, John Maupin. “Developing Champions in the 423 is all about continuing to provide great opportunities for our student-athletes and maintaining Lee Athletics as one of the top NCAA DII programs in the country.  This support will be vital to the future growth of Lee Athletics and will allow us to continue striving for excellence in our sports, as well as Godly impact in the lives of our student-athletes.”

The Lee University Athletic Department has achieved tremendous success since joining NCAA Division II in the fall of 2015. The Flames have won the Gulf South Conference All-Sports Trophy and have placed in the top 25 nationally for overall success in the Learfield Directors Cup Standings each of the last three seasons. Academically, Lee student athletes’ average GPA has increased from 3.11 in 2015 to 3.34 currently, which is higher than the NCAA D2 (3.16) and GSC average (3.10). Over 50 student-athletes participated in a leadership development program last season and each team made an impact in the community by hosting special games/events dedicated to serving non-profit organizations in Bradley County.

“We are fired up to launch our first Lee Athletics Give Day on April 23. Our desire is to develop and graduate champions in all facets of life. With the help of our great alumni, former athletes, parents, and friends we believe this event will serve as a catalyst to help ensure our student-athletes continue to achieve success and strive for excellence in the classroom, their sport, their faith and in serving our community,” said Lee Associate Athletic Director, Carman Lastoria.
