We were joined by our friends at Chattanooga CNY to talk about the Chinese New Year celebration taking place this weekend at the Collegedale Commons on January 28, 2024.

Come with your family & friends to enjoy delicious Chinese food, activities, and live performances! This year we are excited to be partnering up with The 7 Bridges Marathon to bring you a 5k Rabbit Run right before the festival. It’s the perfect time to get some exercise with your friends then enjoy Chinese food & shows right after.

What is Chinese New Year?
Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the beginning of new year on the lunar calendar, a treasured tradition which has been passed down for centuries. Also known as the Spring Festival (Li Chun 立春), Chinese New Year marks a special day for many as it welcomes the Spring season, marking the end of winter season.

It symbolizes the end of old and unwanted and the beginning of all things good and new. This cherished festival is also special to the Chinese community as many would travel home to be with their family, fulfilling the hope and desires of many to reunite with loved ones.

We’d love to share our tradition with our community—to bring together all the cultures that share this auspicious day as one big family, and to share our treasured tradition with everyone around us. As residents here in Chattanooga, we see this community as one big family.

So come join us and let’s celebrate this special day together! The more, the merrier!
